with part 2 of the 4 part series entitled "An Ad Writing Campaign That Teaches
You How". This series will walk you though a *live* Internet ad writing campaign
from start to finish.
Part two of this series concentrates on *Extracting* the benefits of your
product/service from the Marketing profile statement that we developed in
part one of this series. You will learn how to build a Killer benefits list
that will help you in creating your ads, webpage content and sales letters for
any Internet Marketing Campaign. Use this information as a template to develop
your own Internet Marketing Campaign.

"Targeting Your Ads For Maximum Results"
So you've written a KIller Ad and placed it out on the Net but
your response rates are low or *non-existance*. Maybe you haven't
considered the Most Important element of effective marketing..
Your Target Audience.
Who are you marketing to anyway?
To get Maximum results from your Internet Marketing campaign you
*must* first determine who you are marketing to before you write
the first line of ad copy. The Internet offers a wide variety of
people with many different interest. Write your Ads to fit the target
market of the people who might be interested in your product.
A couple of years ago I decided to market a Web Hosting Service that
I was using to host my own Software products Website. I knew that Web
Hosting was a product that offered wide appeal. Anyone who wanted to
conduct business on the Internet needed a good reliable Web Hosting
service.
This posed a big problem for me because the market for this type of
product was so large. I wanted to *carve out* a slice of this market
so that I could concentrate (Target) my marketing effort to this *little* niche.
I also wanted to market to people whom I knew something about. This would
make it easier for me to develop the Ads and Ad copy to fit this *little*
niche market.
In order to me to narrow down this huge market I needed to make of list of
the different types of people who might be interested in this type of product.
As I was doing a *brain dump* for this list it occured to me that one of my
favorite *pass-times* was bowling.
Since I've been bowling for over 20 years now, I knew a lot about bowlers. And
Guess What? Bowler's market on the Net too! I also knew that bowling was one of
the largest participation sports in the United States. What a great *niche market*
for me!
Man, did this make it easy for me to develop the marketing materials for this
advertising campaign. Here's Why:
1. I knew how bowlers think.
2. I knew where they *hung* out on the Internet.
3. I knew exactly how to write my ads, Webpage content and Sales letters to
spark their interest.
4. I also knew what to offer them for Free to get them to response to my ads.
If your Internet Advertising campaign needs a little boost, maybe you should
think about creating your own *little* niche market. Narrow it down to the
individual person. Try to market to people who you know something about. Once
you've completed this most important task, writing effective ads, ad copy,
webpage content and sales letters will *flow* from you with ease.

Effective Ad copy requires that you answer two important questions
about your product/service to your prospect.
How are you solving one of my problems?
What's in this for me?
Our job then is to *extract* the answers to these questions from our
marketing profile and convert these answers into *emotional* benefit
statements that will help sell our product/service.
Our product in this series is *VirtuallyFreeInternet* an Internet service
provider that's virtually free to join.

Let's answer these questions from our profile information.
(Free Internet Access is our product)
1. No monthly internet access charges being deducted from your credit
card.
2. With the average cost of internet access at $15/month that's a savings
of $180 per year. What can you do with an extra $180 per year?
3. VirtuallyFreeInternet Internet Access is National which means that you
can login anywhere in the U.S. If you travel you can get free access
where ever you go.
4. What happens if your current Internet provider goes down? Do you have
a backup Internet Account? Wouldn't it be great to have a Free Backup?
5. You can test drive this service for the first 30 days for FREE. Find
out for yourself if the service is satisfactory before you commit.

1. Anyone who surfs the Net has at least 3 friends who are also on the
Net. I'd bet they would be interested in getting Free Internet Access.

8. Look at the numbers:

How would you like a extra income of $300 - 3000 by next year?
You should notice that we extracted from our marketing profile the
*benefits* of this product not the *features*. Features are usually
technical in nature. Product features don't really answer the *two* most
important questions that you have to answer in order to attract prospects
to your product or service.
Benefits on the other hand should answer the question of "What's in this
for me?". Our goal in this exercise was to *extract* the benefits from
this product that would make this product attractive to our target market.
This benefits list will be used to develop our marketing campaign
materials. Our ads, webpage content and sales letters will be based on
this list.
Take a look at the benefits list and you will realize that creating ads
and ad copy from this list can be done quite easily. You should be able
to develop several headlines from each benefit in this list. These
headlines can also be used as subheaders for your webpage content as well.
A *bulleted* benefits list is also effective in sales letters and
webpage content. This benefits list will be your source.
This exercise is designed to help you develop the information that you
need to promote your product/service on the Net. If you want to be able
to write ad headlines, ad copy and webpage content that sells, then the
information in this exercise is where you should always start. You should
use the information in this series as a template to develop a market
profile and benefits list for your product or service.
The next step in our marketing campaign is crucial to developing *magnetic*
sales materials for your product/service. Keying in on your target market
will determine the direction of your marketing campaign. We will discuss
how to determine our target market in the next issue, so stay tuned.
